I updated my Z5 to MM 6.0, and i am no longer able to access my external SD carte du jour. Card is a Sandisk Ultra 32Gb Course ten
It was NOT set up equally shared storage before the update, and worked fine before the update.
I have taken the card out of the phone and re-inserted it to see if it'll find it, but that restarts the phone and still does non show.
I've likewise taken the card out and put it in a card reader on my laptop, contents prove fine as they were earlier the update, and fifty-fifty tried formatting to exFAT to come across if information technology would discover it, only the phone still does not see it.
Is there a set up for this? I'chiliad a bit annoyed at this, and will be thoroughly pissed off if it won't come dorsum every bit i utilize information technology for camera and music storage to go along the phone retentivity as articulate as possible.
EDIT: NOW A FIX

Same problem here. In improver, I could non delete anything on the carte through File Commander nor format the SD card in the android storage setting (got some sort of partition error). I also connect the card to PC through phone (with card inside the phone and set to MTP) and the PC could "delete" information technology but the files are actually still there after that when I open up them through phone. I don't accept a card reader with me at the moment so can't try that. The carte was working fine before I upgraded to MM.
Friend of mine had the same trouble with his microsd card sandisk 64GB class 10.. Whenever that happens, information technology means your sdcard is rubbish. Defect, dead, goodbye bye Charlie, R.I.P.. Buy a new sdcard.

Connect the sdcard to the pc with sdcard usb adapter or reader. Endeavor to wipe its contents, format it with default settings, select quick format. (backup whatever u need first).. After thats done insert the sdcard in to the phone and format it using the phone format sdcard pick in settings>storage.
If for any reason after you reinsert your sd bill of fare dorsum in to the telephone all the contents on the sd card are still there, so simply put.. Your micro sd card is defect. Throw it out and buy a new one. Lol. This is alsoa common problem with sandisk ultra micro sd cards. Sandisk fifty-fifty admit it in a forum i read once, cant remember the link im afraid. But a simpke google search is your all-time friend for that .
Hope this cleared a few things up for u ---------- Post added at 07:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:40 PM ----------

Oh something i forgot to mention, if any of you accept a custom recovery and rooted device, endeavor this, (as information technology could be possible your device had put a protection/lock on the sdcard). Endeavour to format the micro SD card inside the Custom recovery instead if it doesn't work from inside the settings carte du jour.. you'll likewise accept a bit more particular as to whats going on with the card. If custom recovery fails to format the carte du jour, and then the card is literally defect. Buy a new one![]()

I'thousand not sure as to what the MM update has to practice with it, It could only be coincidence that your MicroSD card just happen to go defected at the time of the update...
although information technology seems like too much of a coincidence.. there is just 1 way to be Exactly sure, that it aint your MicroSD.. If you lot take any data on the card that isn't important. Then endeavour this and post dorsum your results....
i. Insert the microSD in to your MicroSD adapter or card reader on your PC..
2. Try to format the SD card within windows either as eXFAT or FAT32 (Attempt both) Inserting the carte dorsum in to the phone subsequently each Format with both File Systems
3. Cheque the SD card in files within your telephone with a file explorer and come across if the Information on your SD card is Yet there, If it is.. The Carte Is Defect/Damaged/Corrupt etc..
4. If all the data is gone, Then navigate to your Settings>Storage>Format SD CARD (using the phone/device to format it)
Let me know how y'all Get..

At that place take many threads and discussions on the sandisk forums with many people having the same issues with these csrds.. Some people even bought 4-5 of them and had to send them all back to sandisk and get them replaced with working cards.. Manifestly these cards practise not handle being formatted besides many times all that well.. Infact, people have been claiming that when they format it once or twice the card however works fine. Then later the 4-5th time, they but requite out and simply end working all all of a sudden.. Here is the link to the forumhttp://forums.sandisk.com/t5/Mobile...sk-Ultra-64gb-MicroSD-Wont-format/td-p/284884
I user claims he used this method and information technology seemed to have fixed the problem.

I had the same trouble every bit anybody else here on the forum. Nothing worked but this.
Yous have to format the card using Windows Command level option;
1. Run and type "cmd"
2. So type; "format L:"
iii. Get a cup pf java and relax
*
Notes
** 50 = your sd carte du jour drive letter
** don't employ quotation marks
** there is a space between format and the bulldoze letter of the alphabet
------------------------------
Give that a try and let me know how it goes..
Good luck guys..
EDIT: I am infront of my PC now, and so I am going to endeavor format it this way through CMD PROMPT (aka MS-DOS), and considering its a 64GB card, it will take a picayune bit of time.. So far it'due south been going smoothly and information technology'southward at 13% (roughly ane% every 45sec - 1min 10sec).. Information technology must be doing a thorough format rather than a quick format.. Let'south only wait and run into if all ends well..
I Will post the results / outcome once format is complete and afterward I test it in one of my devices..

ReEdit:: Well, the good news is, my marshmallow Z5 detects and accesses my 32GB bill of fare with proper file pathing, rw access etc..
Maybe taking your sdcard out while updating to MM could have prevented a file pathing corruption, renaming.
But @ the person who's sdcard merely stopped working altogether, but you're carte du jour done for man. Funny thing is, its mainly sandisk cards. I'chiliad not a fan of sandisk, they are too unreliable IMO..

I downloaded SD Card Formatter as suggested past this post http://forums.sandisk.com/t5/Mobile...tra-64gb-MicroSD-Wont-format/m-p/285302#M1787, and tried formatting with this (link to format tool: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/index.html).
I tried 3 times with this, the just option that worked was to employ the Total (OVERWRITE) choice within the software. Took a while, merely once done, the phone discovered the card when it was inserted back into the phone. It is at present recognized by all apps, and for good measure, i ran a format of the SD bill of fare from the phone's storage options in the settings carte. No prior contents showing, and so all is good.
I've since copied the contents dorsum onto the carte, and they are at present visible.
Cheers guys for your help!

Correct, after a lengthy formatting session using windows and CMD prompt, neither worked (exFAT or FAT32).I downloaded SD Card Formatter as suggested past this post http://forums.sandisk.com/t5/Mobile...tra-64gb-MicroSD-Wont-format/m-p/285302#M1787, and tried formatting with this (link to format tool: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/index.html).

Took a while, but one time done, the phone discovered the card when it was inserted dorsum into the phone. It is now recognized by all apps, and for good measure, i ran a format of the SD card from the phone'due south storage options in the settings carte du jour. No prior contents showing, so all is expert.
I've since copied the contents back onto the carte, and they are now visible.
Thanks guys for your help!
Glad to see you go it sorted out and working mate..
But something to remember for hereafter reference, windows disk manager wont allow formatting annihilation bigger than 30GB to fat32.. You need to use a program like easeus division master when doing and then..
But im sure yous're already aware of that .
Anyway. Glad you got it sorted anyway mate..
